Never too small to make a difference

Primary students from various schools in the diocese gathered at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Parish Primary School, Rosemeadow to explore ecological issues, share ideas for environmental action, and be commissioned as Eco Ambassadors for their schools.

The day included ecological prayer and reflection, a keynote address from Plastic Oceans Australasia, networking, and presentations highlighting green actions. Students also learned about environmental challenges; repurposed old t-shirts to create carry bags; and co-constructed a "Creation Prayer" for environmental days. The day culminated in each school sharing their piece of the jigsaw puzzle for environmental action and the commissioning of students as Eco Ambassadors for their school.

Overall, this event is a positive example of how schools can engage students in environmental education and empower them to take action to protect our planet.

This activity contributes to the strategic focus area Formation in the Catholic Tradition by providing an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the Church's teachings on stewardship and ecological conversion, actively expressing their faith through care for God's creation.
